Urban Meyer Blasts Tom Herman, Will Muschamp For Blaming Inherited Players

One of Urban Meyer’s former assistants took a high-profile coaching job this offseason. And after Tom Herman fell to Maryland in his debut at Texas, the former Ohio State offensive coordinator said that he and his staff can’t “sprinkle fairy dust” to completely change the Longhorns program in nine months.

This didn’t sit well with Meyer.

The Ohio State coach, who has taken over big-name programs in Columbus and Gainesville, told Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports that it drives him “insane” when coaches blame the rosters they inherit for their struggles.

“C’mon man. I don’t know where that came from,” Meyer said to CBS. “It’s like a new generation of excuse. (Herman) said, ‘I can’t rub pixie dust on this thing.’ He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you.”
